A different option for the Greek PM

"Do not bank on Greek premier ditching his Syriza diehards", Global Insight, The Financial Times p.6

Here's a new approach..... what if Alexis Tsipras, left-wing PM and leader of a Syriza party that contains a good many virtual or self-avowed Marxists amongst its elected representatives, abandons the leftist rhetoric and implements the kind of economic reforms and budgetary discipline demanded by Greece's creditors ? In other words, move politically and economically towards the centre and ditch many of the promises upon which he and his party were elected. Is it even possible ? From this distance it seems highly unlikely, but Tony Barber sees an element of pragmatism in Mr Tsipras that may not be obvious to others. Or maybe some of his more doveish gestures on the domestic political scene of late are designed to foster a (more) united patriotic front post-Grexit? We'll find out soon enough.
